Job Summary
The Standards Intern – Power Generation / Petroleum and Natural Gas is an entry position into the Standards organization that allows an individual the opportunity to work within various sectors of the organization while assisting in meeting the organization’s strategic goals. This position will support strategic initiatives within the nuclear and petroleum and natural gas sectors, including research and standards development related to small modular reactors and hydrogen.
This is a 12-month contract position.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists on special projects that align with the Standards strategy. These could involve coordination with Standards development staff as well as other departments and functions (research, membership, finance, publishing, etc.).
- Provides project management, analytical, and/or technical support on Standards research projects.
- Supports Project Managers (PMs) with coordination of committee meetings (such as preparing agendas, logistics), post-meeting duties (such as assisting in the preparation of meeting minutes and follow up on action items), committee membership management, and compliance with standards development policies (e.g. accreditation and copyright requirements).
- Compiles content of standards, possibly from a variety of sources (e.g. documents, internet, notes, etc). Works with members, PMs, and CSA editorial staff to prepare high quality draft standards.
- Assists in tracking and reporting on progress against defined targets (e.g., schedule and budget).
Education And Experience
- Completion of an undergraduate program.
- Preference for graduates of a related technical field such as engineering, business and/or management.
- Experience working with volunteers and/or multi-stakeholder groups would be an asset.

- Highly developed oral and written communication skills.

- High degree of self-motivation, initiative, resilience, and adaptability.
- Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
- Strong computer skills (word processing, presentation software, project planning software, spreadsheets, etc.).
- Research and analytical skills
- Experience in writing technical documents
- Moderate market segment and project management knowledge
- Candidates with proficiency in French will be given special consideration.
