Our client in Brampton is looking for an IT Support Specialist.
Role:
You are a highly motivated IT professional with experience in workstation support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues. Proficient in MS Windows, MS Office 365, and Active Directory management, with solid knowledge of networking and scripting languages like PowerShell. Skilled in conducting user training, managing backups, and ensuring system security through virus and spyware removal. Known for strong customer service, multitasking, attention to detail, and a commitment to completing projects on time.

- On-call rotation on weekends
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, network, printer, and software issues reported to the IT Service Desk to minimize downtime.
- Develop and manage custom M365 policies and Group Policies in Active Directory to meet security standards.
- Implement and oversee MDM solutions for secure, efficient device use.
- Maintain the Avaya phone system, ensuring smooth operations and integration.
- Use advanced Excel formulas to handle complex data requests efficiently.
- Manage virtual machines for optimal configuration and performance.
- Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation, configuration, and management tasks.
- Diagnose hardware and software issues, escalating complex cases as needed; replace or repair defective equipment.
- Configure and maintain Linux systems to ensure security and availability.
- Support SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases, focusing on data integrity and performance optimization.
- Conduct user training sessions for effective use of technology and tools.
- Provide first-level support for Active Directory, printers, password resets, and device setup for 130 internal users.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Technology or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in workstation support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Proficiency in MS Windows, Group Policies, image deployment, VPN setup, and MS Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of Cisco Meraki, Networking, and Active Directory setup and management.
- Expertise in M365 and Active Directory policy creation and management.
- Strong understanding of MDM practices and tools.
- Advanced Excel skills, with ability to manage high-volume data requests.
- Solid VM management experience.
- PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.
- Linux configuration and security experience.
- Practical SQL Server and PostgreSQL database experience.
- Self-motivated, team player, and capable of independent work.
- Excellent multitasking and project management skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with technical problem-solving ability.
- Clear written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
- Availability for occasional early or late shifts on rotation.
- Nice-to-have: Network+, A+, or similar certifications.
Compensation:
- Salary: $60,000 to $65,000
