Job Description
Responsibilities will include preparation of specimens for processing, including sorting, accessioning, centrifuging and aliquoting. Additional duties include, test processing, inventory management, equipment maintenance, project, and daily laboratory activities.
Qualifications
- Successfully completed an accredited Laboratory or Medical Assistant course, discipline specific degree, micro- credential or equivalent
- Recent hospital experience, prefer within the core laboratory discipline.
- CSMLS (Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science) certification is strongly preferred, MLPAO or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a recognized program for Medical Laboratory technology may also be considered and/or department specific certificate programs.
- Effective analytical and problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated high level of initiative.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel and working with HIS/LIS
- Experience with and demonstrates understanding of quality assurance and good laboratory practice
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Reliable and accountable.
- Applicants must be available for all shift work ie. Nights, evenings and weekends
- Satisfactory attendance and performance required
