Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places, AECOM'sArchitectural business, is seeking an
Electrical Engineer to join our team
. This position is based out of any of our Western Canada offices. Remote work is permitted for this position.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.
Major Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Developing various types of reports including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documents
- Preparing electrical drawings and specification
- Implement design concept through the preparation and production of drawings to detail medium voltage power utility design coordination, low voltage power, fire alarm, lighting, and specialty low voltage systems rough-ins (i.e. telecomm., intrusion control, security, CCTV, door access controls, etc.)
- Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the project
- Conduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific data
- Ensuring design conforms with all applicable codes and standards;
- Working with prime consultants, engineering consultants, client and contractors; responding to technical queries
- Construction administration responsibilities:
- Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with reports
- Shop drawing reviews
- SI and CCN preparations.
- Contractor`s change quotation reviews
- Progress billing reviews
- Fire alarm verification report reviews
- Able to work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the same
- Sound judgment supported by excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess no less than:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field + two (2) years of relevant experience in electrical design on buildings projects.
- Professional Engineering license required.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
P referred Requirements:
- Experience in electrical design on buildings, including Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.
- Experience in engineering consulting industry
- Familiarity with CEC, NECB, ABC, OESC,OBC, IEEE, NFPA, LEED and other industry standards and codes
- Experience in designing electrical power and lighting systems using AGi32
- Knowledge with power analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAP
- Knowledge with Revit and AutoCAD
- Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
- Familiarity with providing guidance and support for others within a department
- Analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities
- Ability to communicate, coordinate, and work well with others both internally and externally
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and commitment to technical excellence and quality
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Analytical, resourceful and detailed oriented
- A good team player and decision maker

- Relocation is not available for this position.
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $87,000.00.
