Overview: We are looking for a production brewer to join our brewing team at Mill Street Brewery in Toronto, Ontario. This role is responsible for the production of wort, cellaring of in process beer, finishing beer and cleaning process equipment. The ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment and follow SOP’s related to Safety, Quality, and Production is required.
We are looking for graduates interested in learning the brewing process from the ground up, starting as operators. You will get to operate our automated brewhouse and filter systems to brew our amazing craft beers.
This is great starting opportunity as many of our brewers move on to cross-functional roles in management across the brewery (e.g. Quality, Brewing, Packaging, Capital Project Management and Maintenance).
Our brewery:
We have an automated brewhouse that runs on PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and is controlled via an HMI (Human Machine Interface).
Our cellars and filtration and centrifugation systems are semi-automated via PLC/HMI systems.
Requirements/Qualifications
- University Degree in Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or Food Science
- Formal brewing education is an asset but not required
- Ability to learn quickly, be agile and adaptable
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- CIP and sterilization of tanks
- Yeast collection & handling
- Beer filtration and centrifugation
- Brew house operation
- Troubleshooting and Process Improvement
- General housekeeping and sanitation
- Helping to train new operators
- Data entry and record keeping
- Quality, Safety and Process monitoring
- Modify and update SOP’s and other documentation
