Role Description
We are looking for a Depositing Operator Trainee to exercise skills and experience in the operation of depositing machines and equipment, ensuring that quality production is achieved on time and on schedule while following all Health & Safety and Quality Standards. The position is responsible for working with raw materials, work in progress (wip), and finished product, operating equipment in any of the depositing areas; providing guidance and direction to GPWs (General Production Workers); accurately administering and processing required documentation related to finished product; assisting team lead/supervisor with the effective set up/startup/change over of production runs. All plant staff are required to operate within a flexible work hour environment.
Job Descriptions
- Reads, weighs, measures, and prepares ingredients and WIP (work in progress) for production; labels boxes and pails accurately.
- Feeds defined quantities of ingredients/materials to hoppers and/or machines according to quality standards and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Operates depositing equipment using knowledge and familiarity of the various depositing programs.
- Analyzes, controls and adjusts the various parameters affecting the output; ensures the conformity of products to pack immediately and notifies supervisor of non-conformity to established parameters
- Ensures labels include all necessary information (e.g. lot number of days); optimizes production time by facilitating changes in the line, chocolate tank, and drain line.
- Checks production parameters (temperature, moisture) and advises if they are outside implemented standards.
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems; ensures proper functioning of equipment and escalates to supervisor as required.
- Coordinates the work related to packaging and palletizing of depositing product finished goods.
- Completes depositing production reports; calculates data requested on the form and complete; reports number of batch ingredients used; records all relevant information on the parameters of production; skid tags (for lot tracking) in an accurate and legible manner.
- Assists in the effective set-up, start-up, and shutdown of equipment, as required. Completes pre and post operative inspections.
- Demonstrates the ability to direct GPW’s working in the depositing department through effective communication, clear direction and follow-up.
- Instructs and provides training to new employees and GPW’s to achieve desired levels of product quality/quantity.
- Communicates effectively with others regarding necessary or relevant information, especially across shifts and during change over.
- Takes samples for Quality; tests for weight and detection of metal (according to the HACCP program)
- Washes and prepares equipment (e.g. trays, conveyor belts, pans, hoppers, scales, machines etc.) in a safe and timely manner using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures in maintaining a safe work environment for self and others.
- Promotes a continuous learning environment and sharing of best practices, methods and ideas.
- Performs such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, from time to time, without advanced notice.

- Knowledgeable on all process equipment and processes within the depositing department; clear understanding of facilitating a production run.
- Intermediate problem solving and time management skill; able to organize and accomplish tasks within set timeframes
- Able to work in a variety of environments including wet, humid, particulate (dusty), cold, hot, and indoor/outdoor
- Strong can-do/ service attitude; capable of dealing with uncertainty
- Possess a continuous improvement and learning orientation; adaptable and open to change
- High school diploma/GED
- 2+ years in a manufacturing or food processing environment
- General Production Worker, Machine Operator
Working Conditions:
This position is required to operate and perform in a food manufacturing, production, and warehousing environment. Unique or special features of the job include:
- 80-90% of the day is spent standing, walking, bending, stooping/reaching.
- Repetitive upper body (hand, arm, shoulder, back) motion is required
- Lower body activity is common to frequent (bending, lifting, pushing/pulling, twisting) including regular lifting and/or moving items over 55 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
