If this sounds like you, we’re looking for a Payroll Specialist I to join our Payroll Team.
This is a full-time, 12-month contract role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, in-person events or activities will be required of you.
In this role, you will:
- Support the delivery of established Payroll programs by providing advice & technical support to the People Support Centre and responding/escalating complex inquiries where possible enabling an efficient and seamless service experience.
- Coordinate and conduct payroll related activities to enable the achievement of program objectives.
- Analyze, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies in payroll transactions so that records are accurate and complete.
You Are:
- An Investigator & Problem Solver- You have a natural curiosity and analytical eye to review information, detect anomalies, and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Able to solve problems and make decisions based on a specific set of standards and guidelines, escalating unresolved issues to senior staff as required.
- Deadline-driven & calm under pressure - Able to handle high volumes, can manage workflows to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely manner.
- Strong Communicator - You have great communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and written. This makes you a resource for your specialized area, providing specialized advice, guidance, explanations, and related support; you also might have helped develop program content.
- Able to use discretion - You are a professional who knows how to apply judgement and discretion when it comes to sensitive and confidential matters.
- A quick learner - Open-minded and able to learn Vancity strategies, functions and programs, policies, procedures, systems and software.
- A team player You are reliable, dedicated and synergistically work with others to support the team.
You Have:
- Specialized Education - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) required.
- Experience - Minimum 3 years in Full Cycle payroll including exposure to Time and Attendance systems. Knowledgeable about Payroll and Accounting concepts, practices and techniques.
Bonus if you also have:
- A post-secondary diploma, or undergraduate degree in Business Administration
- Experience in Finance or Accounting
- Experience working with Collective Agreements.
- Working with Payroll Disability including Short Term and Long-Term Disability
The Team:
- The Payroll Specialist reports directly into the Manager, Payroll
Salary Band: The salary range for the role is $49,700 to $74,000 and a candidate’s offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($62,100). The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
