JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary role of a Claims Assistant is to provide knowledgeable, accurate and efficient support to clients that have insurance claims. This includes answering phone calls and emails in a welcoming and professional manner. Claims Assistants contact clients, repair facilities and dealerships regarding claim statuses and follow up to obtain documentation until each claim is completed and closed in a timely manner.
The role of a Claims Assistant is best suited for a friendly individual with strong interpersonal skills, great attention to detail, problem solving skills and the ability to stay organized while multitasking.
Regular working hours are Monday to Friday either 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Please note, this is not a hybrid or remote position.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualified Candidates must have:
- Secondary School Completion.
- A Level 1 General Insurance License is an asset but not required. Course material, study time and the exam may be provided to accepted applicants that currently do not maintain an active insurance license.
- Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of Adobe PDF products is an asset.
- Previous experience with customer relations/account management with practice using a CRM is an asset.
- Must be fluent in English, including speaking clearly on the phone, reading comprehension and writing with correct grammar and spelling.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities for Claims Assistants:
- Answer phone calls and emails from clients reporting claims.
- Provide clients with respectful, knowledgeable, and efficient service regarding their claim and coverages.
- Contact clients, repair facilities or dealerships to acquire outstanding documents.
- Assist other departments with overflow call support.
- Manage and accurately file documents and other administrative tasks.
Other Responsibilities:
- During team meetings, Claims Assistants are actively encouraged to provide feedback, express ideas, propose potential improvements and contribute to the best practices for assisting clients or operations.
- Claims Assistants may develop, propose, or participate in additional projects during the work week with the goal of improving the company, provided all other responsibilities and tasks are attended to and completed satisfactorily.
Pay: $47,000.00-$52,000.00 per year
