The day to day responsibilities of this role will include: environmental and safety monitoring at our site, specialized industrial cleaning of tanks, berms, pits etc.
GFL Environmental’s skilled team members can handle all industrial cleaning and maintenance tasks ranging from the routine to the complex. We have a full complement of water-jet, GamaJet, steam and pressure-wash trucks to clean equipment, buildings, underground pipelines and storage tanks. Our experienced personnel have the right equipment to access confined spaces and work in hazardous environments in order to get the job done safely and efficiently. Please note: you must be able to work weekends and/or out of town.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for day to day monitoring or assigned project.
- Maintain cleanliness of Tools and Equipment and Industrial Services Shop.
- Power washing and High Pressure Water blasting as required.
- Line snaking, Drain and Pipe Inspections as required.
- Industrial cleaning of chemical non-hazardous and hazardous wastes.
- Assist on Vacuum Trucks/plant operations as required.
- Confined Space Entry/ Rescue as required for Industrial Services Projects.
- Working in tight or cramped spaces.
- Working while using Respirator or Supplied Air Breathing Apparatus.
- Shoveling, Jack Hammering, Squeegee, Scraping and heavy lifting as required.
- Operate Pick-up truck, utility trailer, forklift, excavator, bobcat, etc.
- Operate Aerial boom lift/Scissor Lift as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- 2-5 years’ experience in Industrial Cleaning and Maintenance strongly preferred.
- Experience working in Industrial settings an asset.
- Previous experience with Vacuum Trucks, Industrial Power-washing or Water-blasting, or Liquid Waste Industry experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with Confined Space Entry or Work at Heights greater than 3 meters
- Experience working with Respirators and Supplied Air Systems as well as fall arrest, respirator, Tyvek suit etc. is required
- Lift truck, scissor lift or zoom boom ticket an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours/shifts, days, evenings, nights & possibly weekends or holidays.
- Class G license required.
- AZ/DZ License is considered an asset.
- Must be comfortable with driving and maneuvering a pick-up truck and trailer unit.
- Friendly and professional, able to deal directly with customer contacts on site.
- Ability to multi-task, take direction and work without supervision or within a team at times.
- Working in areas that may be extreme hot or cold.
- Working at heights greater than 3 meters.
- Will be required to wear protective gear i.e.; fall arrest, respirator, tyvek suit etc.
