This is a Temporary Full Time position for (12) Twelve months
Sinai Health is looking for an Infection Control Surveillance Coordinator at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a member of the infection control team, the Infection Control Surveillance Coordinator supports the infection prevention and control team through daily monitoring of infection control processes. This role will report directly to the Director, Infection Control.
In This Role You Will
- Support quality improvement activities aimed at ensuring best practices in infection prevention are implemented and proactive strategies are followed to identify, prevent and control hospital-acquired infections
- Assist in the identification of infectious disease processes by conducting quarterly process audits, which cover areas such as construction sites, hand hygiene, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support surveillance and epidemiological investigation through surveillance data collection, analysis and interpretation as needed for surveillance programs and outbreak management
- Support team in the implementation of ARO prevalence screens, and monitoring of ARO admission screening processes
- Collect denominator data (e.g. hand hygiene audit, central line days for ICU) needed for surveillance and program evaluation
- Adhere to various reporting schedules as necessary to support the prevention and control of infectious disease transmission by promptly reporting surveillance findings to hospital units and leadership
- Maintain information on department intranet page.
- Participate in program evaluation research activities to advance the practice of infection prevention and control
- Provide hand hygiene, PPE donning and doffing education to staff as required
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of infection prevention and control policies, procedures, protocols, literature, standards, and simultaneously fulfills educational responsibilities
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned
Job Requirements
Mandatory
- Bachelor's degree in relevant health science discipline
Preferred
- Experience in a health care setting
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge in infection control practices
- Motivated self-starter with initiative and good problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record
