The Registered Representative/Trader (RR/Trader) is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the Trade Desk during pre-market hours, ensuring seamless execution of all pre-market tasks, market preparedness, and exceptional client service.
What’s it like working as a Trader at Questrade?
The RR/Trader is responsible for preparing the Trading Platform for the 4 am pre market open by executing key pre-market tasks, closely monitoring market conditions, and addressing client needs. This role demands a strong understanding of Trade Desk operations, risk management, and the ability to respond swiftly to market changes.
The RR/Trader possesses a strong technical knowledge of various trading platforms and their functionalities. They have a thorough understanding of local and international equity, options, fixed income, mutual funds, and the Forex markets. Additionally, they assist various departments by providing up-to-date market information, conducting investigations, and processing orders.
This role will also involve direct communication with clients, ECNs, and Exchanges to resolve trade issues, conduct investigations, or address platform concerns.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Monitoring and managing corporate actions, including order cancellations and status inquiries
- Collaborating with Internal teams to ensure accurate trade restrictions
- Conducting risk reviews accurately and in a timely matter, especially focusing on mitigating risks related to corporate actions and market volatility
- Assisting VIP clients with trading requests, ensuring high levels of service and attention
- Managing short inventory, including upload and rate updates
- Receiving and executing client telephone trade orders quickly and efficiently
- Becoming a subject matter expert on Questrade products and services;
- Resolving client trade concerns in a professional manner, escalating issues as required;
- Staying informed on Questrade’s products, services, programs, policies and procedures;
- Keeping current on markets across all asset classes, with particular attention on equities, FX and fixed income markets and the associated derivative securities
- Executing orders on behalf of clients or the firm for equities, options, option spreads and mutual funds
- Pricing fixed-income securities and create spreads on FX rates according to market conditions
- Booking trades and ensuring they are offset correctly
- Working closely with the Risk and Credit department to manage client and firm risk exposure
- Having technical and thorough knowledge of Questrade’s order routing structure
- Working with various ECNs and Exchanges to resolve issues and get the best possible prices for clients
- Adhering to our internal processes and our policies and procedures
- Ensuring timely escalation of issues/trends to an immediate supervisor or a member of the leadership team

- Hold a Post-secondary degree/diploma in related field
- Have minimum 2+ years related work experience
- Have extreme attention to detail
- Are able to set goals, and work independently
- Have stellar communication skills and can effectively solve any client issues
- Are willing to embrace unique circumstance and can easily and calmly navigate escalations by understanding the risks and knowing how to prioritize them
- Are a Registered Representative with CSC, CPH, and DFOL up to date
- Are available to begin work at 2:30 am
