Looking to fill two positions- SPECIFICALLY for:
OPENING BREAKFAST LINE COOK (6 AM START- 2pm)
Howe Sound Brewing in East Vancouver is looking for our next great colleague to take on the roles of opening breakfast and evening line cook. As a member of our Culinary team, you possess excellent organizational and multitasking skills, along with a keen eye for detail to help ensure all food items coming out of the kitchen are of the highest quality and prepared in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing food items according to recipes and quality standards, including special meals and/or substitute items.
- Regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and fryers.
- Preparing, maintaining and monitoring quality control for hot and cold food items including, but not limited to, meat, fish, fowl, sauces, etc.
- Maintaining consistency through appropriate portions, arrangements, and garnishes.
- Maintaining accurate food and temp logs promptly and proactively communicating food quality or shortage issues with the Head Chef.
- Helping to maintain constant cleanliness and proper sanitary condition of all food storage and kitchen areas, including the line and prep kitchens.
- Practicing correct food handling and food shortage procedures according to applicable local, provincial, and Company standards and regulations.
- Visually inspecting all food items from the kitchen prior to service. Performing additional duties, as assigned.
- Performing all other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 year previous experience in a similar capacity, or 3 years previous experience as a First Cook or Chef de parte.
- Food Safe certification required.
- Red Seal certification is an asset.
- High school diploma / G.E.D. equivalent.
- Fluent English language skills; both written and verbal.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Frequent bending, standing and walking for extended periods of time required.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be self directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge in restaurant operations and Banquet and hotel kitchen experience is an asset.
- Must be familiar with breakfast cookery and western cuisine.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet the business needs of a hotel environment, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Legal Work Status: Must already possess necessary documentation to work legally in Canada.

Pay: $18-22 based on experience

- Morning shift/ Evening shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- East Vancouver, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Cooking: 3 years (required)
- Hotel Culinary: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Safe, Food Handler or equivalent (required)
