Area Of Responsibility
This is field inspection position that requires travel throughout the City of Brampton.
Reporting to the Supervisor including support from Maintenance Planning Technologist and Program Planning Technologist. Working within the Infrastructure Planning section, this role will assist in conducting needs and condition surveys on the City’s infrastructure including sidewalks, bus pads and other assigned assets. Training and guidance will be provided to assist in accomplishing your primary responsibilities.
- Utilizing Apple iPad Air with ArcGIS (or comparable) software, conduct maintenance needs and condition surveys on City infrastructure.
- Primary role will consist of sidewalk and transit pads needs and condition surveys through walking the City of Brampton’s sidewalk network and determination of deficient sections of sidewalk and bus pads requiring maintenance attention along with assessing overall condition.
- Upload field survey information to import into City Work or for other staff to produce infrastructure repair lists for the Road Operations Division.
- Report all concerns/issues to immediate supervisor for follow up.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Selection Criteria
EDUCATION:
- Completion of High School (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in a full time Civil Engineering Program or equivalent
Required Experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Other Skills And Assets
- Valid Class “G or G2” Driver’s License, the use of your own vehicle is required. Mileage will be compensated
- Access to Personal Cellular Phone as this job requires the use of your own phone. Usage will be compensated
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and ability to walk/stand for long periods of time
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Transportation Drivers Abstract.
- The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory Health and Safety Training facilitated by the City of Brampton upon commencement of the work term.
