Nch’ḵaỷ Development Corporation (NDC) was established in 2018 as the economic development arm of the Squamish Nation - Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw. Nch’ḵaỷ’s mandate is to develop, manage, and own the active businesses of the Nation and was created to allow for the separation of business and politics within the Squamish Nation.

The HR Coordinator, Learning & Development is a Permanent Full-Time position based at Nch’ḵaỷ’s Park Royal Office. Our Head Office is in West Vancouver, BC on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sḵw̱xwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and its people. SCOPE OF POSITION
The HR Coordinator, Learning & Development plays a crucial role in supporting the successful implementation of Nch'ḵay̓'s learning and development initiatives. This position will work closely with Manager, Learning & Development to coordinate training programs, maintain records, and ensure a positive learning experience for all Team Members.
A core requirement of this position is to embody and represent the Squamish Nation values and culture, making it ideal for someone with extensive experience in this area. Someone who does not meet all the job requirements will be eligible for personal development and training.
A. DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AUTHORITY, AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Program Coordination and Support:
- Coordinate and support various education programs for Team Members, including scheduling and logistical support.
- Communicate with speakers and manage event set-up (hybrid, virtual, and in-person), including all related logistics (e.g., venue booking, equipment rentals, catering).
- Assist in the development and implementation of new training programs and initiatives.
- Provide administrative support for learning and development programs, including budget tracking and procurement.
- Assist with the evaluation of training programs to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Training Records Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all training programs, including participant attendance, evaluations, and certifications.
- Track employee training completion and ensure compliance with training requirements.
- Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) to track training progress and generate reports.
Learning Needs Analysis
- Assist in identifying and documenting employee training needs through needs assessments, surveys, and performance reviews.
- Collaborate with department managers to understand their training requirements.
Operational and Administrative Support:
- Provide operational, administrative, and program support to the Manager, Learning & Development to support staff learning and growth.
- Participate in staff meetings, special projects, and other activities as required.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to training programs and learning opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support to employees throughout the training process.
Event Coordination:
- Coordinate and provide event support for various Webinar Learning Series and other lectures/educational events, both in-person and virtual.
Communication & Technology:
- Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure effective communication of training opportunities to employees.
- Collaborate with the IT team to ensure the smooth functioning of online learning platforms and technologies.

- Reports to Manager, Learning and Development.
D. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred.
- Ability to coordinate multimedia content (newsletters, social media, videos) and apply adult learning principles to create engaging training programs.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
- Customer service orientation, with experience working with diverse groups, including First Nations (preferred).
- Knowledge and experience in cultural competence, particularly in relation to the Squamish Nation’s history, language, culture, businesses, and strategic plans.
Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Inside knowledge of the Squamish Nation, its history, language, culture, and strategic direction.
- CPHR designation or similar certification in diversity, inclusion, or related areas is an asset.
- Understanding of Call to Action 92, UNDRIP, Human Rights, CSA 13 factors of psychological safety, and related topics.
- General knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and organizational development principles.
Skills
- Strong advisory and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and HRIS systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively in person or virtually, applying brand standards consistently.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Willing to work additional hours and off-site as required.
