We, the Canadian Branch are wholly owned by Hannover Re SE and are located with our 25 professionals in Toronto. Currently, we are seeking a highly organized and proactive individual to provide comprehensive Human Resources support to our Canadian Branch. The candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the team to ensure their success. The candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of HR functions, including but not limited to recruitment, payroll, employee relations, and compliance.
You can look forward to
- Manage the human resource inflow through recruitment, selection and hiring including job descriptions and employee agreements
- Accomplish the orientation and on-boarding process for employees and interns
- Handle the process involved in the employee’s lifecycle, including employee relations and employee queries (disciplinaries, grievances, flexible working).
- Maintain employee personnel records, including absences
- Advise and administer the business on all aspects of the payroll and benefits including income tax and social security
- Undertake all HR requirements to ensure legal compliance
- Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees to the full spectrum of HR policies and best practice ensuring international collaboration with the Head Office and other entities around the globe
- Represent the value of the overall HR function both within and outside of the group
- Revise HR company policies where required
- Support redundancy processes
- Assist with general administrative tasks
You come equipped with
- Post-secondary education and 3+ years of work experience in Human Resources
- Professional broad HR expertise and good organizational skills
- A strong understanding of employment law and its practical application
- Proven success in a similar role within the financial services/insurance industry
- Strong command of the English language
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

- Communication: strong writing skills and a pleasant demeanour in conversation and on the telephone
