The City of Richmond Sports and Events Services Department is looking for customer-service oriented individuals who are enthusiastic and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join the team at the Pitch and Putt facility here in Richmond. As an Attendant, you will enjoy taking initiative, creating a friendly, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for our patrons, while working in a dynamic recreational office and outdoor environment to process client transactions with speed and accuracy, providing support to golf course operations. This work is predominantly independent. You will conduct yourself with integrity, respect and professionalism while on shifts. You have an ability to organize work, prioritize tasks in a busy environment, and exercise sound judgement when working with limited supervision. Please note that the initial location for this position may change subject to operational needs.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and requests for assistance or information.
- Register patrons for programs and courses using computerized point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Provide clerical, office administration, cash handling, and programs and events support to others in Community Services.
- Respond to facility and grounds needs to ensure cleanliness and safety is maintained.
- Coordinate emergency response to urgent incidents when necessary.

- Work or volunteer experience in a customer-service oriented position.
- Ability to work alone.
- Ability to perform set-up and take-down of tables, chairs, and related equipment.
- Completion of a suitable First Aid certificate may be required for select shifts.
- Cashier or other cash handling experience is desirable.
- Ability to use basic functions in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of and/or familiarity with Xplor Recreation Registration System.
- Satisfactory completion of Police Information Check.
- Completion of high school diploma (Grade 12 or equivalent).
- Post-secondary course work in office administration and/or recreation is preferred.
- Conversational ability in another language may be an asset for select shifts/locations.
Duties are performed in busy environment, typically at the front counter cash. Some exposure to upset or challenging customers may occur. May be required to move equipment for set-up and take-down as required for admission, programs, functions, and events. May be required to work outside or walk the course.
