POSITION SUMMARY
The Banquet Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food for banquet events in accordance with established recipes and standards. This role ensures high-quality food production, proper food safety practices, and effective collaboration with other kitchen staff to deliver a seamless banquet experience.
Reporting to the Chef de Cuisine, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare, cook, and plate menu items based on Event Orders and standardized recipes.
Assist with the setup, preparation, and execution of buffet stations, plated meals, and action stations.
Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency and compliance with standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and storage areas.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock and minimizing waste.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, reporting maintenance issues as they arise.
Maintain clear communication with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth banquet service.
Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of work areas.
Performs all other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience as a cook in a banquet, catering, or similar high-volume kitchen environment.
Strong understanding of food preparation techniques and culinary best practices.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen sanitation standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and work as part of a team.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in high-temperature environments.
Must have FoodSafe Level 1
Culinary education or certifications are preferred but not required.
