To pursue project and client development in the Toronto region, BBA wants to bolster its expertise in automation, instrumentation and control. Working closely with our offices in Sudbury and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, this team is actively involved in executing various projects in the mining and metals, and energy sectors. At BBA, we strive to provide our clients with an in-house comprehensive service package, from feasibility study stage, to detailed engineering through to on-site commissioning and maintenance services.
As such, the firm is looking for someone to fill the position of Engineer in training or Automation Engineer. You’ll have several opportunities to perform site surveys, provide technical assistance to local clients, participate in commissioning new equipment and systems, and work on projects of all sizes. Additionally, you’ll benefit from BBA’s network of recognized experts with the opportunity to quickly assume increased responsibilities within our projects.

- Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with clients
- Listen to and meet high client expectations
- Help define the scope of projects and proposals
- Allocate tasks to technicians and drafters assigned to the project, review their work and assess the technical scope
- Be involved in commissioning
- Prepare plans and specifications as well as detailed engineering deliverables (P&IDs, layout drawings, I/O loop and motor control diagrams, lists of cables and instruments, installation details)
- Draft reports, plans and specifications, construction and purchasing estimates and calls for tender
- Prepare technical data sheets and select instruments (flow, pressure, level) and control valves
- Provide technical assistance during construction work (electrical/instrumentation)
- Perform inspections or technical surveys
- Help with programming PLCs, DCSs and operator interfaces
- Interact with clients and provide technical support to the team in charge of business development
- Participate in commercial and technical proposal preparation

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in automation engineering, electrical engineering or other relevant training
- Three to seven years of relevant experience
- Experience in design, instrumentation and control
- Experience in programming control systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS)
- Available for short- and long-term work assignments at client locations or sites
- Asset: Member of a Canadian professional engineering association
- Asset: Interest or relevant experience in automation and instrumentation, or participation in detailed engineering of a mining project or in the energy sector
- Asset: Schneider Electric Control Expert, AVEVA (System Platform) or relevant training.
