What you’ll do
* Leads the month-end deadlines by: preparing and entering month end accruals; managing Accounts Payable Administrator workloads to ensure all transaction processing is completed before month end cut-off; and communicating with Manager to ensure sufficient staffing levels to meet month end deadlines.
* Leads Accounts Payable activities during the month by: managing Accounts Payable Administrator work loads; training Accounts Payable Administrators; reviewing all entered invoices for accuracy before posting batches; posting all batches in a timely manner; ensuring all invoices are entered according to the Accounts Payable Policy Guidelines; and resolving all issues related to escalated transaction processing such as all transactions that cannot be entered without research.
* Maintains currency of financial systems, coding and procedures.
* Ensures that Administrators follow current Accounts Payable processes and procedures.
* Prepares, sets up and reviews job costing system entries, journal vouchers and relevant financial reports for accuracy, justifiability and completeness as necessary.
* Conducts research and special analyses related to vendor charges.
* Responds to staff and vendor inquires coming in on the A/P telephone number in a timely manner – as set out in the A/P Inquiry Response Policy.
* Ensures A/P Mailbox is managed on a daily basis.
* Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.
What you bring
* Diploma in Accounting or Finance and two (2) years of experience as an Accounts Payable Administrator or equivalent
role or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* Demonstrated leadership experience.
* Enrolment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) considered an asset.
* Previous experience using various computerized financial systems.
