Senior Mental Health Support Worker Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Senior Mental Health Support Worker to join our team and play a vital role in the onboarding process for new mental health professionals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the mental health field and a thorough understanding of licensing requirements, rules, and regulations surrounding mental health counselling, as well as the nuances of owning and operating a mental health practice.

This position involves leadership, mentorship, and administrative expertise to ensure our team is compliant, effective, and prepared to deliver high-quality mental health services.

Responsibilities

Onboarding Support:
Develop and oversee onboarding programs for new mental health professionals.
Ensure all new hires are fully informed about licensing requirements and compliance with relevant regulations.
Regulatory and Licensing Knowledge:
Provide expert guidance on provincial and national mental health laws, including ethical considerations.
Stay updated on changes to mental health policies and licensing standards.
Assist with license renewals and ongoing certifications for team members.
Operational Expertise:
Share insights into establishing and managing a mental health practice, including operational best practices.
Offer advice on insurance billing, privacy laws, and client confidentiality (e.g., PHIPA).
Ensure organizational compliance with legal and professional standards.
Support and Guidance:
Act as a mentor to new counsellors and staff, providing professional development opportunities.
Address challenges related to client care, staff integration, and overall workplace dynamics.
Collaboration:
Work closely with leadership to refine company policies and ensure they align with industry regulations.
Support the development of individualized care approaches tailored to diverse client needs.

Experience & Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in mental health counselling or a related role.
In-depth understanding of licensing and regulations for mental health professionals in Ontario.
Previous experience managing or supporting the operations of a mental health practice is a strong asset.
Familiarity with laws and guidelines, including PHIPA, CRPO standards, and other relevant legislation.
Exceptional organizational and administrative skills, with experience in on-boarding and mentorship.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00-$70.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 2 per week
