Shift: Day shift is 40hrs/wk (Monday - Friday; 6:30 am - 3pm)
As a Packer, you will…
- Construct standard packaging crates designed to package S&C products for external delivery by using power saws, drills, nail guns and other hand tools.
- Review crate drawings and measure pieces to ensure accuracy in crate construction
- Use tuggers and overhead cranes to transport completed products to the crating area for packaging, place the product on skids or crate bases.
- Ensures the correct products and parts are packaged within the packing crate according to instructions from more senior members of the team, which may include sub-packages of smaller parts.
- Confirm that finished products and associated components have all passed final inspections prior to packaging
- Use internal software applications and whiteboards to identify packing requests and shipments, respond to requests in a timely manner, and correctly document completed jobs.
- Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules
Who are we looking for? Someone who…
- 0-1 year of demonstrated experience in carpentry, woodworking, or related experience that requires the use of power tools.
- Basic carpentry skills with a general understanding of how to construct simple wooden supports, such as pallets and crates.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities and specifications consistently.
- Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned handling requests.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
- Basic math skills with the ability to calculate quantities and weights.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team members inside and outside of the department.
- Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as scales and tape measures.
Ability and willingness to follow Health Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in woodworking, carpentry, or a related area.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
