Right now we are looking for a Social Worker to work within our Outpatient, Adult Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic. This is a program within our Mental Health Addictions Programs.

Hours of Work: Regular Day Shifts – some evenings will be required, subject to change based on needs of the program
Location: Wilson Site – Cross Site Coverage may be required – Must be willing to work in all areas of Mental Health & Addictions Program.

Hourly Rate: $44.67 - $57.90
Position Responsibilities:
- Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in the Urgent Clinic to assess and provide psychosocial support to individuals who are in need of short term crisis intervention and stabilization post discharge from the Emergency Department (ED) and the Emergency Psychiatric Unit (EPU).
- Completes a psycho-social assessment and provides therapies with individuals and families using a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities that are short term (supportive, crisis counselling and brief solution-focused) to promote crisis stabilization and a return to an optimum level of functioning.
- Using a holistic approach provides psycho-education and consultation services to patients and their families to promote an optimal level of functioning.
- Acts as resource of discipline-specific expertise to other members of the treatment team including ED/EPU.
- Provides health teaching to individuals and family members concerning illness, symptom management using a biopsychosocial framework.
- Assist with supportive mental health interventions under the guidance of the psychiatrist.
- Supports and undertakes discharge planning services for patients and families as required.
- Works in a manner to ensure safety to oneself, patients, colleagues and the work environment.
- Participates in reflective practice as per identified College standards.
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- MSW obtained from an accredited School of Social Work.
- Current membership with OASW and OCSWSSW.
- Certification in the prevention and management of aggressive behaviour is an asset.
- Five (5) years’ current experience working with individuals and families in a mental health setting is required.
- Recent experience working with Mental Health Community Agencies/ Resources.
- Experience with specific individual/ group therapy skills (e.g Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy) is an asset.
- Demonstrated skills in working therapeutically with specific patient groups with patients and their families and or legal guardians.
- Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention, individual and / brief solution focused psychotherapy.
- Knowledge and experience with different models of assessment and treatment for patients and families experiencing mental health issues.
- Demonstrates understanding of and incorporates trauma informed approaches for patients.
- An awareness and Knowledge/experience in Trauma Informed Care preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast paced/changing environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
- Ability to respond rapidly and decisively to crisis situations.
- Excellent decision making skills.
- Demonstrates cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Good word processing skills, including MS Office.
- Knowledge of a second language an asset.
- Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
