Temporary Full Time position with an expected end date of June 20, 2025.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a key member of the Communications, Programming, and Customer Experience (CPCE) division, this position develops and executes marketing and communications plans and strategies that raise awareness of Toronto Public Library and its services and programs to various audiences including staff, customers, stakeholders, and the general public.
DUTIES:
- Under the general direction of the designated manager, create and implement strategic marketing and communications plans across a wide range of physical and digital channels, both internal (staff-facing) and external (public-facing)
Overall Account Management
- Develop professional and productive relationships with colleagues and service owners across the organization that will support achieving broader goals
- Build and strengthen relationships with partners and stakeholders, both within TPL and externally
- Translate service owner and other stakeholders’ business needs and objectives into effective marketing and communication strategies and tactics
Project Management
- Oversee tasks related to the production and implementation of marketing communication materials
- Coordinate the work of creative services specialists in the development of print and digital creative assets that support marketing and communication objectives
- Support the logistics and production of internal and external events as required
Marketing and Communications
- Ensure internal and external audiences stay informed of library news, issues and events by developing content to be shared across a wide range of channels
- Support issues management and media relations as required, including developing supporting documentation with recommended messaging and action, acting as liaison between TPL and the media, writing copy including speeches and media materials
- Create and edit copy, and provide editorial oversight to ensure consistency of voice, tone and approach
- Contribute to content planning and execution, working in consultation with other content creators and teams within and outside of CPCE
- Ensure brand guidelines are followed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications or a related field, or acceptable combination of equivalent work and/or education experience
- Minimum of two years of recent and related professional marketing and/or communications experience
- Demonstrated success creating and implementing marketing and/or communications plans across a wide range of marketing and communication channels
- Excellent writing, verbal and presentation skills across diverse communication channels
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Superior project management skills and attention to detail
- Experience working with digital platforms and channels (email, social media, web)
- Experience creating and executing creative briefs
- Understanding of design principles
- Flexibility and ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities concurrently
- Confidence, discretion and tact in dealing with colleagues and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant software applications
- Experience working within the public sector an asset
