Overview:
The Finance Clerk is responsible for providing accounting support services to the accounting operations of the Corporate Finance department. The position will be largely responsible for the high-volume accounts payable cycle.
*Note that this position does not meet any of the CPA practical experience requirements.

Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain a strong internal controls environment within the accounts payable cycle.
- Monitor accounts payable inbox and route invoices for approval to contract managers.
- Prepare, process and enter financial transactions such as invoices, cheques, accruals, and adjusting journal entries into our financial management system.
- Perform accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, standards and deadlines.
- Review the monthly credit card submissions from internal staff for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with the procurement department in setting up and maintaining supplier purchase orders and contracts in the financial management system.
- Maintain records on the financial management system and compile financial information on an ad-hoc basis to assist Corporate Finance in reporting and analysis.
- Resolves or escalates financial discrepancies, errors and/or financial complaints to the Finance Manager.
- Assist with other administrative financial tasks such as timekeeping, cheque runs, data entry and responding to invoice related e-mails from suppliers, contractors, auditors, and internal staff.
Qualifications:
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent and 2 years of experience providing bookkeeping or accounting support services with an emphasis on the accounts payable cycle and data entry.
- Post-secondary education in accounting and/or business.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in organizing large volumes of data.
- Work experience that demonstrates strong communication and attention to detail skills.
- Experience using ERP software, such as Oracle E-Business Suite, for financial transaction processing.
