Job Description
The DATIS program in the Information Management Group at CAMH, manages provincial products and applications, including storage and maintenance of provincial data sets supporting stakeholder data needs through the provision of reports and analytics, data quality and governance guidance resources, and a provincial service desk. This includes products and applications to support Community Addictions, Ontario Harm Reduction database, Ontario Structured Psychotherapy, Community Business Intelligence, Staged Screening and Assessment and Ontario Perception of Care. The development and maintenance of stakeholder relationships and knowledge of service delivery complexities in the MH&A and Harm Reduction sectors is the foundation of DATIS’ work.
This portfolio works closely with Ontario Health’s Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) Centre of Excellence (CoE) to execute the MHA Data and Digital Strategy and Data, Analytics and Reporting strategy, specifically provincial initiatives like the MHA Provincial Data Set and Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program.
The DATIS team at CAMH is currently seeking a CH&E Specialist for a full-time, 1 year contract position. Reporting to the Manager, Data Quality and Governance, the CH&E Specialist will play a key role in leading the implementation and evaluation of data processes and practices across projects and products supported by DATIS, specifically providing support for service providers transitioning to the MHA Provincial Data Set. In addition, they will work to ensure consistent quality processes and support the development of standards across DATIS products as part of the Data Quality and Governance portfolio. They will be able to support multiple complex projects and can work independently as well as with a diverse team.
The successful candidate will engage internal and external stakeholders about processes related to the collection and management of data, develop frameworks for decision-making and process improvement, and will be required to interpret, summarize and synthesize results. They will work closely with the DATIS Product and Reporting, and Customer and Systems Support teams, project leadership, health service providers and stakeholders to ensure quality and integrity in client and program data.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record supporting mental health and addiction initiatives and a strong understanding of related policies, data processes, practices and tools. Experience engaging with communities and various MHA sector stakeholders is required. Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing feasible, efficient, and sustainable processes for data system implementation, data quality improvement and other data-related initiatives
- Coaching others to use data systems, processes and best practices related to mental health and addictions, with a focus on data quality and governance
- Engaging with stakeholder, funders and partners to identify their data-related needs and support the implementation and continuous improvement of data management processes and reporting
- Preparing resources, materials and communications for sharing information with different audiences (e.g., policy briefs, information letters/emails, consent forms, frameworks, reports, and presentations)
- Developing methods for, and coordinating the collection and management of data (e.g. protocol development, survey development, data storage and quality assurance, analyses, data visualization)
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Master’s degree in Health Services, Education, Social Services or a related discipline with a minimum of three (3) years’ related experience in the health services field and specific experience in mental health and addictions services and/or data management
- Experience with implementing, collecting and analyzing health data sets, and related data quality and reporting processes and procedures
- Demonstrated experience with collection and use of data for decision support, quality improvement and/or evaluation
- Understanding of privacy and legal best practices and standards, specifically related to data collection, transfer, storage and reporting
- Experience conducting stakeholder engagement with strong group facilitation and presentation skills, particularly in community-based settings
- Experience providing coaching, training, or education to others
- Demonstrated skills for managing multiple project deliverables and related activities concurrently
- The ability for self-directed learning/working, as well as collaboration and teamwork
- Strong interpersonal communication (oral/written) and community engagement skills
- Excellent writing skills with ability to translate findings for stakeholders from various backgrounds
- Creative problem-solving abilities and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to dynamic project needs
- Experience in collaborating with technical teams and effective oral and written communication skills
- Fluency with at least one statistical package from among SPSS, SAS or STATA and experience with qualitative software (e.g., NVIVO) is an asset
- Strong PC software skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel), Internet Search engines, and the ability to learn new programs quickly
- The ability to work effectively in a wide-range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Bilingualism (Ojibwe/English, French/English) is an asset
