OVERVIEW:
The Linehaul Coordinator provides “hands-on” proactive management of the employees and owner operators, within prescribed policies and time frames. This position is responsible for the daily linehaul operations of Canpar Express & Loomis Express in Etobicoke, Ontario (205 new Toronto St). The linehaul coordinator role currently helps direct 30+ hourly drivers and Owner Operators daily Monday to Friday. The scheduled hours for this position can vary depending on Hub start times. Starts being late afternoon to evening and/or night hours. On occasions of vacation coverage and operational needs the hours may flex inside the range of the Etobicoke operations of Sunday to Friday. The role will work out of the facility and gatehouse, the candidate will need to be comfortable lifting up to 70lbs, standing for long period, and working in an area that is not fully insulated but has heating & AC.

This Coordinator’s position reports to the Senior Network Ops Manager for direction, support, and guidance. On-the-job training is provided as needed and follow-up coaching/mentoring through face-to-face meetings with your manager and or conference calls are all part of the continuing onboarding that you will receive while working in this position.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Scheduling drivers (start times for PM pulls/Later starts/weekends)
- Scheduling monthly preventive maintenance inspections on the shunt trucks.
- Call taking/emails/entering PINC system.
- Dispatching.
- Open PO’s/Work Orders (using Cetaris Fleet System)
- Creates BOL’s for long distance routes
- Payroll - ADP for Canpar/Loomis drivers, temp payroll
- Completes accurate and timely reports for management as required.
- Samsara, checkup and follow up on alerts.
- Maintains equipment in safe, efficient operating condition always.
- Applies appropriate leadership/management style with open communication (i.e., communicates Corporate strategic plan, recognition of individual/team contributions) to motivate staff.
- Reorganize operations as necessary to meet operation changes & emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESULTS:
- Identify and address root causes (not just treat symptoms) of service failures.
- Ensure targets are met daily with respect to service levels.
- Diagnose root cause and implement necessary corrective actions to correct all failures.
- Ensure compliance with company policy and procedures are met by staff.
- Improve/reduce operational costs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- No Criminal Record (for which a pardon has not been granted).
- Proven communication skills - written & oral.
- Demonstrated leadership, analysis & problem-solving skills.
- PC skills (Basic Word processing & spreadsheet analysis).
- Demonstrated drive, initiative & flexibility to ensure task completion.
- Demonstrated time management, organization skills and excellent people skills.
- Manage multiple activities/deadlines/reports.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be assertive and respectful while ensuring compliances are met.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are preferred qualifications, but not mandatory requirements:
- Linehaul dispatching and Employee management experience in courier or closely related industry.
- Prior working experience with quality/process improvement initiatives.
- Working experience with scheduling and meeting deadlines and solving problems on the run.
- Proven ability to work through employees, training, and process/policy to attain goals.
- Ability to thrive and work effectively in a fast paced and sometimes hectic work environment.
