Position: Assistant Server
Department: FOH - Buca
The Assistant Server provides support to Servers by monitoring food quality prior to delivering dishes to tables, and then providing explanation of each dish to the guests. He/she practices a high level of floor awareness and has exceptional knowledge of all menu offerings.
Responsibilities
Answer questions about food, beverage, wine and other restaurant functions and services when necessary
Assists with Cart Service and Food Reception
Communicate with Servers and Hosts to maximize seating
Inspect all tables for proper mise en place, cleanliness and completeness
Practices a high level of floor awareness and clear/clean as required
Ensures that plates arrive to the proper guest and each plate is described to the guest
Monitors food quality and presentation standards
Monitors the cleanliness of section and ensure all materials and areas are clean and free from clutter
Follows all food safety standards and systems
Communicates to all Servers any comments or information provided by guests to ensure a positive, memorable experience
Other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications
Serving experience in a comparable restaurant environment
Smart Serve Certification is required
High attention to detail
Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills
Ability to take direction and prioritize
Strong oral communication skills
Keen interest in food, beverage and service excellence
Ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum
