Student Systems Engineer

PROTRANS BC is the private operator of the Canada Line, a 19-km automated rail-based rapid transit system connecting Downtown Vancouver with central Richmond and the Vancouver International Airport. We are located in Richmond, British Columbia.
The Student Engineer will provide support to the in-house engineering department by taking ownership of and acting as a project manager for an assigned in-house system development project. Additional duties include management and maintenance of the engineering drawing database, and assisting in other engineering projects as necessary.

Your Role Within The Team
- Provide technical assistance and/or support with innovation projects.
- Assist with practical and theoretical analysis to verify the validity and effectiveness of the designed solutions for technical problems.
- Assist with research of new and innovative industry developments.
- Assist with project planning, hardware/software development, costs management, time management and all aspects of managing a project.
- Assist with developing documentation.
- Assist with the Digital Twin Machine Learning Project.
- Auxiliary project assistance as needed.

The Ideal Candidate
- Enrolled in an Engineering Bachelor’s Degree program from a recognized university, with completion of at least two years (Mechanical, Electrical or Physics preferred).
- Experience with AutoCAD (2D drawings).
- Experience with MS Office Suite.
- Experience in Excel VBA.
- Effective communications skills.
- Time management and decision making skills.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal, troubleshooting and planning skills.
- Familiarity with SharePoint a plus.
- A combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $62,200 - $85,500 annually (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
