Ontario Council Archives Assistant (4 months).
*Hybrid work arrangement, must be based in the Greater Toronto Area*
About This Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Legal Services with onsite supervision provided by the Archives, Records, and Information Management Coordinator, in this role, you will be part of the Ontario Council Archives Team. You will aid in the daily activities of the Ontario archives, active, semi-active and historical records systems and to preserve records.
In This Role You Will
- Aid in the transferring of digital records to new digital archives software (AtoM).
- Evaluate backlog for the Ontario Archives
- Assist in the transferring records between third party vendors and the national office.
- Arrange and describe archival records according to Rules for Archival Description (RAD).
- Promote archival holdings.
- Maintain archives and records database.
- Work according to defined procedures for managing archival materials in both paper and electronic formats.
- Physically maintain archives and archival materials.
General
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
- Liaise with other departments as required.
- Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, responding to/directing inquiries and consulting with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Enrolled in or completed post-secondary education in archival studies or related field.
- Robust knowledge of archival principles and standards, metadata schemes, arrangement and description, and conservation techniques.
- Knowledge of legislation around information access and reproduction.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Customer service oriented.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40lbs.
- Experience with Access to Memory software.
Assets
- Knowledge and experience with national and provincial privacy legislation.
- A knowledge or/participation in Guiding.
- Prior archival and records management work experience.
Starting Salary: $40,166/yearly
Salary based in Toronto, GTA area
