Friends of Ruby (FoR) is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing. We operate a Youth Drop-In Centre, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a Transitional Home, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

About the Role
As a Housing Support Worker, you will:
- Welcome and orient youth, providing compassionate, non-judgmental support.
- Collaborate with youth to address goals, safety, and care plans.
- Build connections with community partners to amplify support.
- Support daily operations, including reception tasks, snack prep, and maintaining a clean, safe space.
- Provide trauma-informed, harm-reduction-based care and crisis support.
- Collaborate with volunteers and teammates to foster a positive, inclusive environment.
What You Bring
- Education or experience in social services, social sciences, or related fields.
- 3+ years working with youth, marginalized groups, in mental health, addictions, emergency shelter or residential settings.
- Familiarity with anti-oppressive, anti-racist, trauma-informed approaches.
- Knowledge of Toronto Shelter Standards, SMIS, Housing First for Youth, and harm reduction models; TREAT is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage high stress situations (i.e., crisis and conflict) calmly and confidently.
- Bonus: Training in First Aid/CPR, CPI, ASIST, or UMAB.

What We Need
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check clearance.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Availability for various shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
