Position Description:
This incumbent will conduct emergency and emergency response planning and assist in business continuity planning, including, but not limited to, developing, implementing, testing, and revising all emergency/business continuity plans. The incumbent will work with the manager to design tabletops, functional drills, and full-scale exercises for the college, providing guidance and coaching and analyzing exercises to identify gaps and potential problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares and maintains public education and awareness programs for students and staff.
- Prepares information pamphlets, discussions/lectures and training on what to expect; engagement with all stakeholders internal and external.
- Develops and implements emergency plans for new buildings.
- Tests emergency plans and revise where needed.
- Reviews incident logs and other records of actions taken during emergencies to ensure procedures are current and to advise on changes.
- Advises on coordination of systems, processes and updates/makes recommendations.
- Designs tabletop, functional drills, and full-scale exercises. Prepares reports and delivers presentations.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plans.
- Updates and maintains operational protocols and procedures for Emergency management and associated documents, policies and activities.
- Assists in the Hazard Identification Risk Assessment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Disaster & Emergency Management or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institute is required.
- ABCP (Associate Business Continuity Professional) & EMO (Emergency Management Ontario), IMS 100, 200, EM 125, 131 & 200 (BEM or equivalent).
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in emergency management.
- Experience in business impact assessments and business continuity planning.
- Experience with crisis communications.
- Project management experience.
Skills and Attributes:
- Design and development of emergency exercises.
- Developing emergency exercise programs and writing After Action Reviews.
- Knowledge of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and the CSA Z1600 standards.
- Well-developed communication, training, and facilitating skills.
- Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal emergency and response regulations and practices.
- Excellent collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
