Hosts are to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere to guests upon their arrival at Alobar. They display a calm, smooth momentum in both busy and slow times. Hosts must be able to multitask with charm, confidence, and professionalism. It is imperative that the host team work in tandem with floor staff to ensure that tables are seated properly, reservations are managed well, and that guests do not have excessive waits for their tables. The following duties are expected of our hosts at Alobar:
- Ensuring menus and menus covers are kept in good condition
- Ensuring that reservation requests are handled appropriately and that waitlist slots are filled whenever possible
- Keeping the floorplan up to date throughout service hours and ensuring that the team is taking a proactive approach to managing incoming reservations
- Cleaning and restocking washrooms
- Cleaning and organizing the front entryway, windexing the door, keeping the coat check well organized
- Answering the phone, returning voicemail messages
- Monitoring the inquiries inbox for last minute reservation requests and changes
- Guiding guests through the restaurant to their tables
- Communicating with all floor staff and management about table turn times and floor plan changes if necessary
- Maintaining a calm, warm demeanor during both busy and slow times
- Communicating with service staff in regards to celebrations, allergies, and notes on reservations.
- Gathering information about guests ahead of their reservations
Hosts are a guest's first impression of the restaurant. Guests are the host team’s first priority when they walk through the door. Hosts are the integral bridge between the guest and floor staff.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.20 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
