The Role:
As a Child and Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and youth with diverse needs, including those with physical or behavioural challenges. You will provide direct care, implement intervention strategies, and create opportunities for personal development, ensuring each individual feels valued and empowered.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking highly skilled and experienced professionals with a background in supporting children and youth who may face physical or behavioural impairments. Responsibilities:
- Providing individualized direct client support to child/youth who have been diagnosed with Developmental Disability and/or experiencing behaviour crisis and/or present with complex needs.
- Providing care and support for child/youth in their setting such as live-in treatment, residential care home, family or foster home, school, hospital, the community, etc.
- Must monitor and document daily shift logs, incident reports, medication charts and other documents.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for child/youth in care.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of living spaces.
- Administer medications and fill out the Medication log
- Transport clients to and from appointments and community outings.
- Assist with the client's daily hygiene routine and household chores.
- Documentation and reporting such as daily notes, incident reports, medication administration record sheets, etc.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Child & Youth Worker, Community and Justice Services, or relevant field (or currently enrolled)
- Valid CPR & First-Aid (required)
- UMAB Certification or CPI (required)
- Vulnerable Sector Clearance (Within last 3 months)
- Valid G2 / G Driver’s License (required)
- Must have Vehicle (required)
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services and Family Service Act guidelines
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts (required)
- Must be available to work Overnight Shift (required)
- Must be able to work 7 am-7 pm or 7 pm-7 am
