As Biophysics Unit Scientist VIE in our Analytical Sciences team you will support with the development and implementation of process analytical technologies (PAT) in adherence with quality regulations for new and commercial vaccine projects. Test method development and routine testing to characterize and control vaccine antigens using biophysical methods and technologies (such as particle sizing, spectroscopic, and thermodynamic methods).

Main responsibilities:
- Development & qualification of appropriate assays for the release, characterization, & stability assessment of vaccines.
- Design & execution of experimental studies for the development of new test methods for use as release, stability, & characterization assays for new vaccine products through literature search, feasibility assessment, assay optimization and robustness testing, and qualification/validation.
- Method transfers to or co-validations with other testing labs, investigations, and test performance monitoring/trending.
- Day-to-day functions within the laboratory to ensure project milestones are achieved on time & performed in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant manner with respect to training, documentation, & instrumentation.
- Evaluation of new technologies in their area of expertise to improve upon throughput, precision, accuracy, and overall quality of methods employed.
- Work within the policies, procedures and regulations as required by the Company and under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Implementation of analytical strategy with thorough method development and qualification.
- Promote good communication and teamwork to ensure flexibility in the workplace and transversal cooperation with internal customers and other testing groups.
About You
Experience:
- 2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in DoE-based (design-of-experiment) analytical method development, validation/transfer, data management, and automation is preferred.
- Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) compliance and testing in compliance with current electronic data integrity regulations is preferred.
- Specific scientific experience in the development of new analytical methods for biomolecules and/or vaccines.
Soft and Technical skills:
- Proficiency in biophysical instrumentation and techniques with proven familiarity particle sizing methods including Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), laser diffraction (LD), Micro Flow Imaging (MFI) and Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS) is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with protein physiochemical characterization methods including Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and Nano Differential Scanning Fluorimetry nanoDSF, and viscosity.
- Familiarity with spectroscopic methods including circular dichroism (CD) Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR), and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR).
- General knowledge of the concepts, development, and implementation of process analytical technologies (PAT) is a strong asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Education:
- Master’s degree in Biochemistry / Analytical Chemistry / Molecular Biology / Biotechnology or related field.
Languages:
- Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal).
- Professional proficiency in French would be a plus.
