The West Vancouver Memorial Library currently has an opening for a casual Librarian I to work on-call in the Youth Department. Reporting to the Head of Youth Services, the successful candidate will be an integral member of the team responsible for providing information service in a very busy public library. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Reference and readers’ advisory services for kids, teens, families and educators
- Planning and facilitating early years storytimes
- Using technology to meet a variety of information needs, including e-book and e-audio book access and assisting patrons with public computing
- Assisting with collection development (weeding) and maintaining displays to highlight collections
The successful candidates will possess: a Master’s Degree in library and information science from an accredited school, strong customer service skills; superior communication and interpersonal skills; a passion for working with young people; reference and readers’ advisory skills for kids and teens, experience with e-readers, tablets and mobile applications; the ability to work well as part of a team; and demonstrated ability to master information sources thoroughly and quickly.

$38.77 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits (2024 rates)
(This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase after certain hours.)
