The position is responsible for supporting and assisting our Journeyperson Electrician on the electrical work installations of electrical and electro-mechanical systems and equipment for new projects or alterations to existing systems and for preventive and breakdown maintenance, diagnostic, and repairs.
- Assist the Journeyperson Electrician with various tasks, including but not limited to installing electrical raceways, electrical equipment, and wiring devices.
- Assist with all types of electrical installations, including electrical wiring tasks, using schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
- Assist in maintaining electrical systems and equipment for reliable operation.
- Learn all procedures for installing and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.
- Learn to work safely following all WorkSafe BC and Technical Safety BC procedures.
- Follow all required company and prime contractor safety rules and regulations.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and assistance to entry-level or support employees.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English.
- Ability to work with minimal guidance on complex regulated electrical work and select the means and methods necessary to obtain solutions.
- Ensure that all tools, instruments, and equipment are in good and safe operating condition.
- Demonstrating knowledge of electrical codes and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to follow instructions and courage to ask for guidance when needed.
- Ability to work individually and as a team.
- High attention to detail with a strong work ethic.
- Follow TRIUMF safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and interactions with contractors, site, site users, and staff.
Nuclear Energy Worker:
The position requires the incumbent to be trained and designated as a TRIUMF NEW. Training will be provided by TRIUMF.
Qualifications and years of experience:
- Registered apprentice with SkilledTradesBC/ITA or another recognized provincial apprenticeship
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical and electro-mechanical installation or maintenance.
Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
During the apprenticeship, TRIUMF will provide time off for all technical training and examinations required by the Apprentice Program, as follows:
- 100% paid time off for any exam days.
- 100% paid time off for up to 6 weeks per apprentice year, to attend such full-time training
- 75% for any additional weeks needed to a maximum of 10 weeks of training if required.
TRIUMF will reimburse course and exam fees on successful completion, but not the cost of books.
Upon successful completion of the Apprentice program, compensation will be increased to 100% of the journeyperson rate.

Salary Range:
$40,700.00 - $50,900.00
