UI/UX Lead
THE OPPORTUNITY
Total Systems Solutions Consulting Inc. https://totalsystems.ca is seeking a UI/UX Lead to work for our public sector client at the Provincial Health Services Authority in the Province of British Columbia. You must be available 100% to work remote part-time, 40 hours per week with availability Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm in the Pacific Time Zone.
The consultant is expected to start ASAP and the contract length is 2 years.
Project Context
Digital Health Innovation (DHI) delivers provincial digital health strategies and business transformations by relentlessly focusing on the end user and the end-to-end health services journey for everyone in British Columbia. We concentrate on the design and delivery of digital health tools and platforms to support the ongoing evolution of a connected health system and digitally enabled health care. By collaborating with all provincial health sector partners, we ensure an equitable approach to addressing health sector priorities.
DHI is part of the Provincial Digital Health & Information Services (PDHIS) portfolio that was formed in July 2022 to enable our BC health system more effectively digitally and virtually. PDHIS brings together many organizational units from different parts of PHSA into one portfolio and includes a close partnership with the Ministry of Health to deliver on the BC Digital Health Strategy.
Service Required
The UX/UI Design Lead will collaborate with PHSA Platform Product Teams to design and deliver exceptional user experiences. This role is focused on understanding user needs and ensuring that all features are intuitive and accessible while providing visionary leadership to the design team. A key aspect of this role is to work with digital health leadership to create and prototype novel designs that align with the province’s digital health strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspire and lead designers and key stakeholders to achieve excellence in UX/UI design. This includes creating onboarding plans and process documentation
- Develop and nurture a strong, cohesive central design team
- Plan, design, and implement new user interfaces for platform solutions
- Create user personas, wireframes, and prototype diagrams to guide the design process
- Strategically create and innovate health products that set new standards in user experience
- Optimize and enhance existing user interface designs and manage maintenance of design system in Figma for improved usability
- Conduct usability testing and deliver test results to ensure intuitive and seamless user experiences
- Develop user-centric design strategy that align with business goals
- Prototype and test new ideas to validate design concepts before full implementation
- Conduct continuous user research to stay informed of user needs and industry trends
- Help build a user-centric design strategy
Consultant Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with at least five (5) years of recent, relevant experience in UI/UX design
- Robust portfolio showcasing experience in designing user-friendly digital interfaces, particularly for healthcare in British Columbia
- Strong eye for design and deep understanding of design principles
- Ability to tackle complex challenges, define problems, identify research methods, design and implement solutions, and evaluate their impact
- Excellent communication skills for presenting ideas and design choices to diverse audiences
- High attention to detail and precision in design execution
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other UX/UI-centric applications
- Ability to effectively work from home using remote access technologies
- Proven expertise in collaborating with cross-departmental stakeholders
- Experience in the healthcare industry is an asset
