Role Overview
Are you a passionate designer looking to grow your skills and develop your craft? At SMC Communications, we’re offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Designer to sharpen your expertise and collaborate with a talented team.
In this role, you’ll contribute to a variety of creative projects, working closely with the Head of Creative, Web Developer, and other teams. You’ll help craft strategic, high-quality visuals and digital assets that stand out. With a focus on food, beverage, and hospitality clients, your work will play a key role in bringing brands to life and creating memorable experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Projects: Assist in the creation of visual assets, including branding materials, digital content, marketing collateral, and website elements, tailored to the food, beverage, and hospitality sectors.
- Collaborative Design: Work closely with the Head of Creative, Web Developer, and agency teams to understand project objectives and deliver high-quality creative solutions.
- Production Support: Contribute to the development and production of digital and print materials, ensuring all outputs meet professional standards and client expectations.
- Project Development: Participate in brainstorming sessions and concept ideation to help shape the creative direction of campaigns and projects.
- Trend Awareness: Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and industry best practices to ensure creative outputs remain innovative and impactful.
- Process Management: Ability to self manage project tasks and timelines, organize project files, maintain documentation, and assist with asset management to support seamless project workflows from concept to completion.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree or certification in Graphic/Digital Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in graphic/digital design, including internships or freelance work.
- A portfolio that highlights your creativity, technical skills, and unique design perspective.
- Creative Vision: Strong design sensibilities and the ability to translate ideas into visually appealing outputs that align with client branding.
- Passion: An enthusiasm for food, beverage, and the hospitality industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and basic web design tools (Webflow, Squarespace, WordPress, HTML/CSS). Open to learning new tools as needed.
- Attention to Detail: High standards for accuracy and consistency across all creative outputs.
- Production Skills: Experience in preparing and delivering artwork for print, experience in preparing website designs for developement
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong communicator who thrives in a team setting, sharing ideas and incorporating feedback effectively.
- Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Content Creation Skills (Nice-to-have) Passionate about photography, videography and creating engaging social content.
