Job Summary
As an Education Specialist on the People and Culture team you will play a pivotal role in supporting corporate compliance training, and developing and curating engaging and effective learning materials and courses that meet our client's needs for training and development.
You will play a key role in developing eLearning programs by collaborating with clinicians, administrative, managerial, research and technical employees as content owners. You will facilitate the course design process by writing storyboards, designing training documents, and developing interactive eLearning courses. You will also support the organization to leverage existing content in our content management system, currently SkillSoft Percipio, by curating learning journeys aligned to client needs.
The successful candidate will be comfortable in collaborating with team members to create and produce effective and engaging learning materials for both blended and online learning environments using graphics, animation, photography, videos and educational games to enhance learning experience.
Duties
- Possess advanced understanding of adult education principles and demonstrate efficient application of these principles in order to design, develop and deliver interactive online eLearning training programs under minimal supervision, and to curate existing content based on clients’ learning needs
- Follow guidelines to ensure courses meet AODA standards, and align with emerging trends and best practices in adult education
- Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with Subject Matter Experts to support the design and maintenance of eLearning course content. Build foundational knowledge of job functions and workflows of client groups.
- Collaborate with faculty and other SMEs to develop best-practice assessments/ tests to achieve learning objectives
- Design eLearning courses that effectively and creatively use technology to meet educational and business goals
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot eLearning modules to ensure defect-free performance and compatibility across different platforms
- Evaluate existing instructional materials to identify opportunities for enhancement and redesign them accordingly using emerging technologies
- Contribute to creating project scope, defining project goals, and developing proposal timelines.
- Demonstrate effective project management, administrative and organizational skills and manage time appropriately for all assigned work, including target dates for creating new instructional designs, handouts and performing other tasks
- Prioritize different tasks based on team’s goals and needs, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Perform cross-functional tasks and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
- Collaborate with the Learning Management System (LMS) team and other technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve learner-related issues.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in instructional design, education, web development, or a related field.
- 2+ years practical experience in instructional design and elearning
- 2+ years practical experience in designing and curating online learning solutions using adult learning principles
- Sound knowledge of instructional design and project management (needs analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) required
- Basic understanding of performance and competency-based curricular design grounded in adult learning principles.
- Experience with instructional design models such as ADDIE and AGILE, with the ability to apply them in the development of eLearning solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to design creative, interactive online-courses
- Experience with 3rd party course authoring tools (e.g., Storyline, Lectora, Captivate) for developing online courses
- Experience with Adobe suite of graphic designing tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (e.g. Moodle, Brightspace, Canvas)
- Ability to work independently and within a team under tight timelines, demonstrating a high degree of self-direction, initiative and motivation
- Must have advanced organizational skills and ability with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Solid experience in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and Accessibility best practices and standards (AODA)
