As a Line Cook Intern/Co-op at Positano Restaurant, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in a fine dining setting while preparing and cooking a variety of traditional Italian dishes, focusing on Neapolitan and Southern Italian flavours. You'll work closely with the Head Chef and the culinary team to ensure all dishes meet our high standards, contributing to both the daily menu and special event offerings. This unpaid internship is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a career in the culinary arts and looking to advance their skills in a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of Italian dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts, in accordance with the restaurant's menu and standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality and presented attractively to guests.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate with other chefs to manage inventory, prepare ingredients, and assist with daily specials or menu changes.
- Participate in kitchen team meetings and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, menu items, and guest satisfaction.
Job Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Hospitality or Culinary Arts program, with a strong interest in Italian cuisine, particularly Neapolitan and Southern Italian dishes.
- Basic knowledge of traditional Italian cooking techniques and flavor profiles.
- Proficiency in key cooking methods such as grilling, sautéing, and baking, along with excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment, managing multiple tasks while maintaining food quality and presentation.
- Strong teamwork skills to collaborate with the Head Chef and kitchen team, ensuring smooth operations and timely dish preparation.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen hygiene practices to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
