We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Infrastructure division and build innovative projects in the transit and transportation sectors, such as roads, highways/freeways, bridges, interchanges, LRTs, BRTs, and airports. Reporting to the Supply Chain Lead, the Buyer is accountable for providing effective operational procurement and deliver supply chain solutions to their assigned project(s), including both pre-construction and operations teams. The Buyer will focus on improving operational performance and reducing cost and business risk while delivering a better value supply chain through embedding category strategies directly into projects. This role supports supply chain management by handling the supply of goods and services across the Ontario business group.
As a Buyer At Graham You Will
- Support the Supply Chain Lead in delivering planned objectives and initiatives.
- Handle supply chain management activities within our Ontario business unit.
- Support the supply chain solution for both bid-winning, as required, and project execution (construction).
- Participate in strategic projects to help streamline processes when needed.
- Ensure that the supply chain is safe, sustainable, and appropriately accredited.
- Support operational procurement needs at the site level (i.e. a potential to be project site based).
- Support the compilation of the project procurement strategy and schedule.
- Monitor supply chain delivery against the set procurement schedule.
- Gather data and provide accurate and concise summaries as required.
- Prepare and present reports as required and achieve targets set by team.
- Create and install corrective action plans as required.
- Conduct regular management reporting, financial status, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Identify ways to reduce cost and improve service.
- Carry out quotation analysis and evaluation of tenders when required.
- Prepare and issue enquiries for subcontractors and materials.
- Conduct low value risk negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Resolve problems between suppliers and Graham and expedite quotes and deliveries.
- Liaise with stores, site teams, and suppliers.
Qualifications/Education
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or another technical field.
- Pursuit of SCMA / CIPS qualification is an asset.
- 2 years of experience as a Buyer within a General Contracting organization (preferred) or comparable industry (i.e. logistics, manufacturing, etc.).
- Intermediate level knowledge of the procurement processes.
- Relevant product and subcontract market knowledge is an asset
- Knowledge of tender and contract procurement practices is an asset.
- Competency with supplier selection and evaluation.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- An ability to operate under pressure and meet tight and demanding deadlines.
