Job Overview
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Communications Manager and Sr. Communications Manager to elevate the internal and external reputation of CCS through strategic communications. This role collaborates with multiple teams and departments to help execute internal and external communications initiatives, such as memos, internal newsletter, public inquiries, intranet and quarterly events. The Communications Coordinator supports CCS video content production including filming and editing executive videos when needed, and also supports corporate communications projects such as CCS’s annual report production. This role is ideal for a proactive, results-driven communicator who is skilled in writing and has exceptional organizational skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the development of a variety of engaging, employee-centric materials such as memos, newsletters, presentation materials and digital content
- Support the production of CCS video content and executive video content
- In partnership with the Communications Manager, strategically facilitate content planning and write editorial copy for internal, biweekly e-newsletter and intranet site
- Assist with planning and execution of quarterly Town Halls, virtual and bilingual all staff meetings
- Contribute to the development, execution and evaluation of several communications initiatives including corporate and executive communications projects (annual report, key messages, speaking remarks) and change management
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, assist in developing a variety of engaging communications materials such as news releases, key messages, fact sheets, speeches, presentations, digital content and more, ensuring all tools reflect the standard for high impact, high quality and on-brand communications
- Project manage content approvals and sharing between internal and external stakeholders in a timely, collaborative and professional manner
- Coordinate translation requests with our in-house translation team to ensure documents are available in English and French
- Review CCS’s media monitoring through Meltwater to proactively identify emerging issues or opportunities
- Respond to public inquiries in a timely and professional manner, collaborating with internal experts and stakeholders for information and fact-checking
- Post content to cancer.ca or the newswire service as required
- Provide ad-hoc support to the Strategic Communications team
What We Are Looking For
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field and 1 to 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Exceptional writing ability and oral skills
- Experience in internal and external communications, including event coordination, media and public relations
- Video content and production experience needed, specifically knowledge of video editing and content capture for internal audiences
- Experience working with executives and supporting communications needs
- Positive, can-do attitude along with ability to self-motivate, work well independently and contribute to the positive culture of the team
- Superb organizational, project and time management, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated flexibility, resourcefulness, resiliency and the willingness and capacity to produce quality results under pressure and to deadline
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain positive relationships
- Proven ability to present creative solutions to challenges and issues management
- Experience with media monitoring (Meltwater), reporting and analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams as well as SharePoint
- Experience in a health-related environment, cancer organization or non-profit setting is an asset
- Must be based in Toronto, Ontario
