Role Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Internet Communications Technology Co-op student to join our team. The ideal candidate will gain hands-on experience in internet engineering, WiFi systems, Voice over IP, and network cabling, contributing to real-world projects while developing their technical skills.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Assist in the design, implementation, and testing of network protocols and routing configurations to optimize network performance.
● Support the deployment and security of WiFi networks, including power measurement and system design to ensure reliable connectivity.
● Participate in the design, building, and testing of VoIP systems, including configuration and troubleshooting of hardware and software components.
● Assist in the installation, testing, and documentation of network cabling, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
● Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for network configurations, design specifications, and project processes.
TRAINING, EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
● Currently enrolled in a co-op program in Internet Communications Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
● Strong understanding of internet protocols (TCP/IP, DNS) and routing concepts.
● Knowledge of WiFi design principles, power measurement techniques, and security protocols.
● Familiarity with Voice over IP technologies, including SIP and RTP protocols.
● Basic knowledge of network cabling standards (e.g., Cat 5e, Cat 6) and installation practices.
● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
NICE TO HAVE
· Previous experience with network configuration tools and diagnostic equipment.
· Understanding of project management methodologies related to technology projects.
· Any relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) are a plus.
