Business Overview
The Corporate Tax Department has an open, dynamic and collaborative environment with a high performance team providing tax consulting, compliance and reporting and planning functions that gives everyone the opportunity to prosper.
Role Overview
This role is a member of the Corporate Tax team in the Financial and Corporate Services Division and reports to the Vice President Tax. The Tax Analyst will have responsibilities in corporate tax compliance, tax provisions and tax planning as well as tax support for various business units and departments. Tax compliance responsibilities include the preparation/review of income, commodity tax returns, insurance premium tax returns as well as assistance on tax audits. The Tax Analyst will also be involved in special projects and key strategic initiatives of the organization.
What You Will Do
- You will perform corporate tax work which include preparing/reviewing tax provisions, tax reconciliations, income, sales tax and other tax returns, identify tax issues, interpretation of tax laws and regulations. You will also be performing tax research, making tax recommendations, providing tax consulting services, tax planning and analysis, and tax audit support.
- Keep abreast of the latest tax developments, perform tax impact analysis and implement tax changes.
- Review of tax processes and recommend improvements.
- You will work on special projects on an as-needed basis.
What We’re Looking For
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or Master of Taxation (or related field).
- Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations.
- Possess or be working towards a CPA designation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft excel.
- Enrollment in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Courses or Master of Taxation program an asset.

- You demonstrate strong tax technical knowledge, tax research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- You have strong organizational, project management, and critical thinking skills.
- You have strong leadership skills, are proactive and take ownership of your work
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good presentation skills.
- You are detailed and results-oriented.
- You are a quick learner, self-motivated, able to work independently, curious in asking good questions, “eager to learn” attitude and ability to adapt well to changes.
- Strong proficiency with excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, net present value calculations, complicated formulas including the building of financial models), and Powerpoint
- Working knowledge of tax research database (such as CCH Intelliconnect) and Corporate Taxprep software an asset
- Good understanding of IFRS tax accounting standards.
- Positive attitude and team player.
You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement.
