Job Description
Arcadis is seeking a Transportation Planner - Sustainable Mobility with 2 to 5+ years of experience to join our transportation team. We are actively working to make communities more sustainable by expanding our team with diverse skill sets.
You will play an important role in the full life cycle of projects (conducting analysis, reporting and presentation of findings, client interaction). You will also have the opportunity to contribute to business development, such as proposal preparation, work scope strategy. Our multidisciplinary project teams will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate with a wide variety of professionals including urban planning and design, architecture, placemaking, active transportation, wayfinding, land development, and construction administration.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent communication skills, be eager to learn and enjoy working in a fast-paced consulting environment. Strong writing, presentation, and public speaking skills will be of benefit in this position, as there will be frequent interaction with various levels of municipal agencies, client project teams and public stakeholders.

What will you work on?
The role will focus on supporting a variety of transportation demand management projects, including delivering workplace and residential programs, global events planning, development guidelines, community-based social marketing, master plan strategies, resource development, marketing and branding and client support. Additionally you will:
- Use motivation and engagement strategies to entice employers and residents to participate in various programs
- Develop and deliver engagement plans for a variety of projects, using in-person and virtual strategies
- Conduct field observations to understand current mobility trends and habits
- Compile and interpret data, such as transportation tomorrow data, survey results and site assessments
- Analyze, interpret, synthesize and visualize data
- Conduct jurisdictional scans, best practice reviews and stakeholder interviews
- Prepare TDM plans and guidelines for new and existing developments
- Develop outreach and social media content, following established branding guidelines and conventions
- Write reports and contribute to proposal submissions
- Research ongoing and evolving industry and municipal best practices in the realm of transportation demand management, behaviour change, mobility changes and other best practice for workplace, community and school TDM.
Role Accountabilities:
- Delivering high quality on all technical deliverables
- Using professional judgment to identify and resolve problems
- Contributing to client and project success by focusing on improving quality of life and putting sustainability at the core of all you do
- Applying technical analysis, report writing, and other skills to deliver projects on-time and on-budget
- Regular coordination with project managers, team members and stakeholders to align project goals, project progress, and deliverables
- Attending internal and external multidisciplinary project team meetings, site visits, and other meetings, as required
Qualifications
- At least two years’ professional experience in transportation demand management, with a preference for program delivery and strategy development
- Degree in engineering, planning or an environmental/sustainability field, with a preference for a candidate eligible for a professional designation (e.g. P.Eng., RPP, TDM-CP)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud. GIS experience is an asset
- Experience developing marketing and promotional materials, including public engagement boards, flyers, toolkits, public-facing reports and social media
- Familiarity with the micromobility planning and operations
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with a commitment to excellence and high-quality work
- Comfortable with meeting new people and applying behaviour change and motivational interviewing techniques
- Proven technical writing skills in English with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to be flexible and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team, while maintaining quality work within a fast-paced environment
- Ability to regularly attend client and public meetings in person in the Greater Golden Horseshoe
