Position: Purchaser/Inventory Controller

Job Description
This role will be assisting purchasing and overseeing inventory levels to ensure the company has the materials and products needed to operate efficiently. This role involves purchase order processing, inventory analysis, implementing new processes to optimize purchasing and stock management as well as vendor negotiation.
The successful candidate must have familiarity with ERP system and broad knowledge of manufacturing processes including inventory, production and distribution would be an asset.
The ideal candidate will be a good communicator who is self motivated and can work in a very fast paced environment. Purchasing experience in the Chemicals industry is a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Research and secure new potential raw material vendors. Ensuring they meet regional requirements for registration.
· Develop key relationships with vendors to gather up to date material information
· Implement change and develop new processes to better procure goods and services.
· Provide periodic reporting for management on purchasing, controls and processes
· Work with the finance team to ensure invoices are accurately processed and discrepancies are resolved.
· Conduct basic market research to identify potential suppliers and products.
· Assist in resolving issues related to damaged goods, late deliveries, or inventory shortages.
· Collaborate with internal departments to ensure purchasing needs are aligned with company objectives.
· Provide administrative support to the purchasing department, including filing, data entry and report generation
· Full cycle purchasing from placing purchase order to receiving of inventory
· Monitor and purchase raw materials to meet production requirements
· Negotiate pricing terms and contracts with suppliers, term, credit limit & lead time and formulate policies with suppliers while ensuring strong relationships with suppliers
· Prepare price analysis of purchases with breakdown of cost components and market price research
· Review, evaluate and manage vendor relationships in terms of cost reduction, on-time delivery and quality control
· Work closely with the Plant Operations to monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock checks.
· Forecast inventory needs based on sales trends, seasonality and other influencing factors.
· Assist big projects in allocating raw materials and components, meeting challenging/flexible production plans and tight deadlines

Qualifications
· University / Post-Secondary Degree
· Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably experience using Microsoft Dynamics Navision
· Good understanding of procurement processes and supply chain principles
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
· Strong acumen and affinity for numbers
· Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a very fast- paced environment.
· Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
· Previous MRP experience an asset
· Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic
· Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize job tasks
· 5 years experience in purchasing/procurement, with knowledge of Canadian industry standards
