Summary
The Purchasing Coordinator/Inventory Planner is responsible for performing procurement and inventory control duties to ensure product availability while optimizing costs. This role involves managing inventory at the local site to fulfill customer orders, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining positive vendor relationships to secure timely delivery of goods. This position requires strong collaboration with internal departments to align inventory with business needs, as well as problem-solving skills to address supply chain disruptions and maintain continuity in production.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Able to navigate the various forms and data sources within the ERP system to determine optimal stock levels of various finished goods.
Collaborate with manufacturing departments to address production demand issues.
Utilize the ERP system to generate job orders, transfer orders and job schedules to maintain adequate stock.
Determine optimal stock levels for various assigned finished goods based on historical data.
Monitor delivery schedules for incoming detailed parts and expedite orders when necessary.
Look proactively at demand in Infor and accurately depict what action is required.
Identify and control costs for assigned detailed parts and understand impact of inventory management.
Use order multiple, minimum, maximum to identify ideal order quantities for vendor sourced detailed parts.
Identify safety stock for items and plans within corporate safety stock guidelines.
Use the inventory below safety stock report and understand its application.
Navigate the material planner workbench to identify any potential shortages.
Understand and validate BOMs and other related material transactions
Coordinate the procurement of goods and services required by the organization.
Review and analyze purchase requisitions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Contact vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes and negotiate pricing and terms.
Generate purchase orders and issue them to suppliers.
Communicate with department members and production employees about any disruptions to detailed parts.
Able to navigate the material transactions form to identify any issues with inventory.
Understands the CAPA process and completes SCM responsibilities; communicates quality concerns with vendor.
Able to learn, navigate and utilize various programs including Infor, UKG, Intelex, QMS, Smartsheet, Tableau and future programs.
Understands the First Article process and completes SCM responsibilities.
Able to generate and execute appropriate actions from the past due purchase order report.
Able to utilize MS Suite products with intermediate competency to analyze data exported from Infor.

Education And/or Experience
College degree (Associate's or Bachelor's) from an accredited institution, or two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiar with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point).
Must have good practical understanding of basic office equipment (computer, fax, photocopier, calculator and printer).
Must possess above average human relations and communication skills.
Should be able to follow both oral and written instructions, as well as the ability to read and write effectively.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write professionally to internal and external stakeholders with minimal errors.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates and percentages
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out oral or written instructions. Able to interpret graphs, pivot tables and other data sources. Strong critical thinking ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to generate and interpret pivot tables. Negotiation skills are strongly preferred.
