As a Direct Support Specialist, you will provide quality person-centered support to youth and adults using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)-based interventions in the home, the community under the supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and Clinical and Operational Manager. You will receive a comprehensive orientation including Advanced CPI Training and ongoing supervision.

Shifts availability:
Option 1. Tuesday to Saturday - 6:00am to 2:00pm OR 2:00pm to 10:00pm OR 3:00pm to 11:00pm
Option 2. Sunday to Thursday - 6:00am to 2:00pm OR 2:00pm to 10:00pm
Option 3: Rotation
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday - 8:00am to 8:00pm
Week 2: Monday, Thursday, Sunday - 8:00am to 8:00pm

As a Direct Support Specialist, you will be:
- Supporting clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individual’s quality of life
- Assisting and teaching daily living activities, and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being
- Daily documentation and reporting
- Medication Administration (as delegated)
- Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles
- Supporting clients with varied level of personal care (e.g. hand-over-hand, full support, etc.)
- Assisting with household activities and chores
- Other responsibilities as assigned

- Regularly scheduled hours of either – Days and/or Afternoon shifts. Weekend work required for all positions (either every other weekend or one weekend day)

What you need to be successful
To take on the role of Direct Support Specialist, you must have:
- Certificate from a related field such as Diploma in Behavior Science, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Child and Youth Worker, Degree or Diploma from a Human Services related program. Consideration of Personal Support Worker certificate with relevant experience.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
- Clear Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening dated within the last 3 months
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
- Driver’s Abstract (3-year Uncertified) dated within the last 3 months
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proven interpersonal and organizational skills
- Previous community experience working with youth with developmental disabilities, challenging behavior would be considered an asset
