Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $34,827 - $47,853 per annum
Status: Permanent Full-Time

Working on site at Toronto General Hospital and reporting to the project manager, the incumbent will work to abstract data for a city-wide quality improvement registry initiative in critical care medicine. Some of these tasks will include: screening for eligibility, reviewing and abstracting information from medical source documents, managing data entry into an electronic data capture system, and maintaining the master keylog.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviewing and adhering to the guidelines in the study protocol and operations manual
- Following study procedure and institutional guidelines to ensure privacy and confidentiality of data
- Collecting data on eligible patients’ ICU stay (ie. their admitting diagnosis, administered medications, vital signs, delirium assessments, mechanical ventilation settings, etc.)
- Entering data into the RedCap database
- Monitoring eligibility of patients in the critical care unit for eligibility from the time of admission to discharge
- Maintaining and updating the subject enrollment log
- Resolving study-specific data queries raised by site staff (Project Manager, Principal Investigator, Study Coordinator)
- Maintaining secure storage of confidential documents with appropriate backup
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred)
- Demonstrated interest in health care and/or clinical research is required
- Experience with RedCAP or other electronic data capture systems is considered an asset
- Experience with critically ill patients and/or regulated health care professionals is considered an asset
- Experience with medical terminology and data entry is considered an asset
- Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office required
- Ability to learn and adapt to a rapidly changing environment is required
