Summary
PenEquity Inc is seeking to hire a Property Accountant. The Property Accountant will be a key member of the accounting/finance team and report to the Director of Finance.
Hybrid in Downtown Core.
Responsibilities:
- Produce monthly Financial Statements according to IFRS/ASPE or as specified by client policy/requirements.
- Provide supplementary reporting as required by the client
- Utilize budgets and other tools to analyze variances
- Reconcile, analyze and understand all Balance Sheet accounts
- Prepare and record operating costs and realty tax adjustments monthly
- Ensure all HST and other legislated taxes and assessments are reconciled and remitted on a timely basis
- Support site in reconciliation and invoicing of tenants as due
- Supply tenant analysis and statements of accounts as required
- Complete year end operating cost adjustments and tenant billings for assigned properties within 90 days of operating year end
- Prepare property budgets within assigned deadlines
- Provide input/feedback for improving procedures and initiating quality and efficiency enhancements
- Communicate efficiently and effectively, in a professional manner, with all employees and clients
- Collect and post tenant payments by recording cheque and pre-authorized transactions and update tenants accounts as needed
- Assist Controller with special projects and training of staff
- Working with auditors to ensure timely completion of audits
- Respond to tenant inquiries in a timely manner
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education - Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience –1-3 years of related experience required; previous property management accounting experience an asset
- Relationship Skills - Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; team player
- Organizational/Multi-Task Skills - Ability to allocate time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands, competing priorities, ability to work at a detailed level; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change
- Computer Skills - Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of Yardi is considered an asset.
